DWA Brokers £11m Buy‑In for Manufacturing Firm

Dean Wetton Advisory (DWA) is pleased to have acted as broker on a £11 million buy‑in completed by Cartwright Pension Trusts for a UK manufacturing firm. The transaction, finalised in June 2026, secured the benefits of 87 members, including 62 pensioners and 25 deferred members and was executed from a position of surplus.

The trustees were supported throughout by Cartwright, who acted as scheme administrator, actuary and secretary to the trustees. Just Group provided the insurance solution, with DWA leading the broking process. Investment management services were delivered by SEI Investments, while Burges Salmon provided legal advice.

A Scheme Prepared for the Right Moment

The Scheme entered the market with a strong funding position and a clear long‑term strategy. This preparation was central to the trustees’ ability to move decisively when market conditions aligned.Cartwright’s integrated actuarial, administration and governance expertise ensured the Scheme was well positioned to progress when the opportunity arose.

The trustees’ readiness enabled advisers to work collaboratively, ensuring the transaction could be completed efficiently and with confidence.

A Competitive Broking Process

DWA acted as broker, running a competitive process to identify the most suitable insurer and structure for the buy‑in. The Scheme’s clarity of objectives and strong funding position supported an efficient broking exercise, enabling DWA to work closely with the trustees and their advisers to secure an excellent outcome with Just Group.

Commenting on the transaction, Dean Wetton, Managing Director at DWA, said:

“The Scheme was well prepared to enter the market, supported by its strong funding position and clear objectives. That enabled us to run a competitive process, working closely with the trustees and their advisers to secure an excellent outcome with Just.

For DWA, this transaction represents an important milestone as we continue to establish ourselves as a new entrant to the annuity broking market. We are proud to have demonstrated our ability to deliver competitive outcomes alongside the market’s established names.”

Strengthening Member Security

The buy‑in enhances the long‑term security of members’ benefits and forms part of the trustees’ broader de‑risking strategy. With benefits now insured, the Scheme has taken a significant step in reducing risk while maintaining focus on long‑term member outcomes.

Collaborative Advisory Support

This transaction reflects the value of coordinated advisory support. Cartwright’s integrated services, combined with DWA’s broking expertise, SEI’s investment management and Burges Salmon’s legal guidance, enabled the trustees to progress confidently and secure a strong result.

DWA is proud to have contributed to a transaction that strengthens member security and demonstrates the firm’s growing capability in the risk‑transfer market.
